The provincial government is funding a one-year pilot program through the PEI Physiotherapy Association to provide free pelvic floor physiotherapy for underinsured or uninsured PEI residents.

Nine physiotherapy clinics across the province with physiotherapists who have specialized training and authorization will participate in the program and provide treatment for the following pelvic floor conditions:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Emptying disorders of the bladder
  • Faecal incontinence
  • Emptying disorders of the bowel
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Specialized seating cushions
  • Bath benches and commodes
  • BiPap machines

The assistance of an equipment technician will also be provided. Equipment provided is subject to availability.

Provides funding for people with muscular dystrophy so they can obtain wheelchairs, scooters, orthotics, hospital beds, and other essential equipment. The following categories of assistive equipment are eligible for funding:

  • Access equipment (door openers, ramps, lifts)
  • Bathroom aids
  • Beds and mattresses
  • Breathing aids (ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines)
  • Lifts (hydraulic lifting device and swing/chair lifts)
  • Miscellaneous (Repairs or modifications, batteries)
  • Mobility aids (power or manual wheelchair, scooters)
