How to clear your browser “history” or “cache”

Other users of this computer can trace the sites you have visited using information stored in your web browser history file (sometimes called "cache"). Hide your activities on the Internet by following a few simple steps to clear your browser "history" or "cache" before you walk away from the computer. Follow the instructions below.

If you are still concerned about privacy, use a computer outside of your home or office. You can access the Internet for free at many public libraries.

To clear your browser history or cache:

(The process could take a while if you have a lot of files and history)

In Google Chrome

• At the top right, click More Delete browsing data
• Choose a time range, like Last hour or All time
• Select the items you want to clear
• Select the types of information you want to remove
• Click Delete data
• If you delete cookies while signed in to Chrome, you won't be signed out of your Google Account

• Click Safari in the upper left menu bar or click on the Gear icon in the right toolbar (is this correct? Need to check on an Apple product)
• Choose History
• Select Clear History, then click the pop-up menu
• Choose what history and other elements to clear

• Click on the Menu tab (three dots) in top right corner
• Select the History Tab
• Select the website you want to Delete by clicking the ‘X’

• Click on Settings
• Choose Privacy, Search, and Services
• Under “Delete browsing history”, select which option applies to you and follow instructions that appear

• Click Tools (gear icon)
• Point to Safety
• Select “Delete browsing history”
• Choose which files you want to remove and then select Delete

In Mozilla Firefox

• Click the menu button to open the menu panel.
• Click History and select Clear Recent History
• Select the Time Range to clear (drop-down menu) (Select Everything to clear all cache)
• Check the box next to the history elements you want to clear (e.g. cache, history, cookies)
