Free Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Financial Assistance

The provincial government is funding a one-year pilot program through the PEI Physiotherapy Association to provide free pelvic floor physiotherapy for underinsured or uninsured PEI residents.

Nine physiotherapy clinics across the province with physiotherapists who have specialized training and authorization will participate in the program and provide treatment for the following pelvic floor conditions:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Emptying disorders of the bladder
  • Faecal incontinence
  • Emptying disorders of the bowel
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Sexual dysfunction

Service Description

Products specifications
Eligibility:Eligible PEI residents who:

-Have a valid PEI health card
-Have no or insufficient insurance coverage (or cannot afford their co-pay)
-Have an appropriate diagnosis from a physician or nurse practitioner (see above referenced list of diagnoses)
-Have not previously received pelvic floor physiotherapy for this conditionnot previously received pelvic floor physiotherapy for this condition

How to Access:Get assessed If one of the listed conditions is found, then be referred to one of the clinics with a referral from a nurse practitioner or physician
