A 12-week program that enhances skills and provides meaningful work experience to help lead to employment. A weekly training allowance is available if the participant is not on Employment Insurance (EI). Funding is available for child care and transportation.

Provides a 10 week group course in which participants are paid while developing the skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition to the labour market or return to school. This program is offered in Summerside and Charlottetown (Charlottetown location varies). Classroom teachings include:
  • Life skills

  • Specialized training including First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, Service Excellence, Food Service Certification

Provides high school students with an opportunity to explore trade career options and gain a head start on the post-secondary apprenticeship training program.

Note: Students must already be employed with a suitable employer in a designated trade. A list of designated trades in PEI can be found on the website.

Assists job seekers in gaining skills and education necessary to find and maintain employment. Financial support of up to 70% of course costs is provided to enable job seekers to complete a post secondary certificate or diploma program. Financial support may also be available for travel and childcare costs.

Provides a training program for those working toward professional certification in a designated skilled trade in PEI. The program offers a combination of on-the-job training with a qualified tradesperson (80%) with in-class training (20%).

  • 10-week skills development component
  • Access to a job coach who will help identify barriers to employment and figure out what resources are required to overcome those
