PEI Pharmacare - Insulin Pump Program

Assists with the costs associated with approved insulin pumps and supplies.

The program covers up to 100 percent of costs. The amount depends on annual household income, private insurance coverage ,and device costs. See website for full details.

Notes: Application deadline is July 1 each year. Existing recipients must reapply by the deadline to keep the current coverage.

PEI Pharmacare - Home Oxygen Program

Provides eligible applicants who have been prescribed oxygen for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with coverage of up to 50% of approved home oxygen expenses to a maximum of $200 per month.

PEI Pharmacare - HIV Drug Program

Provides coverage for approved medication costs including:

HIV treatment medication
HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication
HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medication

PEI Pharmacare - High Cost Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with financial assistance to help pay for approved drugs for certain conditions including, but not limited to:

Ankylosing Spondylitis
Cancer
Crohn's Disease
Multiple Sclerosis
Plaque Psoriasis
Pulmonary Hypertension
Psoriatic Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration

PEI Pharmacare - Hepatitis Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with full cost coverage of approved medications for treatment of hepatitis.

PEI Pharmacare - Growth Hormone Drug Program

Provides full cost coverage of approved growth hormone supplements for eligible children.

PEI Pharmacare - Generic Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with cost assistance for approved generic prescription drugs with the maximum out of pocket cost for participants being $19.95 per prescription.

PEI Pharmacare - Family Health Benefit Drug Program

Helps cover the cost of approved prescription medications for eligible families.

PEI Pharmacare - Erythropoietin Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with full cost coverage of approved anemia treatment medications.

PEI Pharmacare - Diabetes Drug Program

Effective May 1, 2025 many insulin products and oral diabetes medications are eligible for full coverage under National Pharmacare Program (NPP)
