Parenting Supports
Programs that teach parenting skills and support the well-being of parents, including services that provide personal advocacy or system navigation help for parents of children with specific needs.
- Providing families with information
- Helping prepare families for meetings
- Attending meetings with families as needed
- Working with staff at a diagnosed child's school
- Applying to government/other agencies for respite support
- Other situations specific to a person's autism spectrum diagnosis where support is required
Workers provide ongoing support to parents through home visits Island-wide. Services during visits include:
- Activities to help with baby's growth and development
- Sharing information on topics like health, safety, nutrition, and language
- Support for postpartum and parental mental health
- Support to achieve personal goals
- Connections to other community resources for families

Assists with car seat inspections for new parents in the Francophone community.
Provides a 17-week group session program for fathers who have concerns about their violent acts towards their children or children's mother. Program helps to develop a healthy relationship with them. Violent acts include:
- Over-controlling
- Over-involved
- Distant
- Irresponsible
- Emotionally abusive
The program focuses how to build trust, motivation, awareness, and child-centered parenting practices to find an individual parenting approach.
Note: If a primary concern is perpetration of child sexual abuse, individuals are NOT eligible for the program.
Provides free monthly live phone sessions facilitated by licensed mental health professionals for moms and dads who seek to connect with other parents.
Note: Limited to the first 15 callers.
Adaptive seating and mobility devices can include:
- Seating inserts
- Wheelchairs
- Special needs strollers
- Bath seats
- Car seats
- Toileting aids
Offers parents and caregivers the opportunity to gather together, learn new recipes and prepare a meal to take home to their families.
