Help with the cost of medical care for prescriptions, equipment or assistive devices, rebates to help make homes more accessible, how to apply for publicly funded health care, and more. Also includes short term medical equipment loans and free access to health related items or services like pregnancy tests, hearing and eye exams, or safer sex supplies. The provincial government is funding a one-year pilot program through the PEI Physiotherapy Association to provide free pelvic floor physiotherapy for underinsured or uninsured PEI residents.
Nine physiotherapy clinics across the province with physiotherapists who have specialized training and authorization will participate in the program and provide treatment for the following pelvic floor conditions:
- Urinary incontinence
- Emptying disorders of the bladder
- Faecal incontinence
- Emptying disorders of the bowel
- Pelvic organ prolapse
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Sexual dysfunction
Financial assistance to help cover specific costs related to their ALS diagnosis, including:
- Ongoing costs associated with having a feeding tube
- Special dietary needs
- Cost of transportation to certain events like medical appointments
Note: Financial assistance for drug prescriptions, counselling and private home care is not provided.
Note: Approved applicants must submit expenses that occur after their approval date. Retroactive expenses will not be eligible for reimbursement.
