Provides an alternative energy source to heat homes. Electric Thermal Storage (ETS) system (water heaters, room/space heaters, and furnaces) and Smart Grid technologies takes energy from renewable resources such as wind and stores excess energy in home's heating and/or hot water systems to use instead of fossil fuel or less efficient systems. Currently there is a surplus of wind energy. The program offers $0.08/kwh rate for individuals who participate in the program by purchasing or leasing ETS equipment to heat their home. The City of Summerside guarantees this kwh rate for five years.
