Government of Prince Edward Island - Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning

Provides eligible applicants who qualify for regular Employment Insurance (EI) benefits to continue receiving those benefits while they attend full-time post-secondary studies within Canada for the duration of their claim.

Assists job seekers in gaining skills and education necessary to find and maintain employment. Financial support of up to 70% of course costs is provided to enable job seekers to complete a post secondary certificate or diploma program. Financial support may also be available for travel and childcare costs.

Provides high school students with an opportunity to explore trade career options and gain a head start on the post-secondary apprenticeship training program.

Note: Students must already be employed with a suitable employer in a designated trade. A list of designated trades in PEI can be found on the website.

Helps job seekers who want to launch their own business by providing financial support and business counselling during their first year in operation.

Government of PEI provides several bursaries to students attending post-secondary education.

Students graduating from a post-secondary program can apply for a grant to help reduce their provincial student loan balance. Maximum grant amounts are:

• For academic years that commenced prior to August 1, 2018: A grant of up to $2000 per year of study
• For academic years that commenced after July 31, 2018: A grant of up to $3500 per year of study
