PEI Pharmacare - Hepatitis Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with full cost coverage of approved medications for treatment of hepatitis.

PEI Pharmacare - High Cost Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with financial assistance to help pay for approved drugs for certain conditions including, but not limited to:

Ankylosing Spondylitis
Cancer
Crohn's Disease
Multiple Sclerosis
Plaque Psoriasis
Pulmonary Hypertension
Psoriatic Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration

PEI Pharmacare - HIV Drug Program

Provides coverage for approved medication costs including:

HIV treatment medication
HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication
HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medication

PEI Pharmacare - Home Oxygen Program

Provides eligible applicants who have been prescribed oxygen for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with coverage of up to 50% of approved home oxygen expenses to a maximum of $200 per month.

PEI Pharmacare - Insulin Pump Program

Assists with the costs associated with approved insulin pumps and supplies.

The program covers up to 100 percent of costs. The amount depends on annual household income, private insurance coverage ,and device costs. See website for full details.

Notes: Application deadline is July 1 each year. Existing recipients must reapply by the deadline to keep the current coverage.

PEI Pharmacare - Ostomy Supplies Program

Eligible applicants may receive up to 100% cost coverage for out-of-pocket expenses associated with purchasing approved ostomy supplies. Maximum coverage available between July 1-June 30 each year is $2,400 and is calculated based on household income.

Ostomy supplies eligible for coverage include:

Skin wafers
Ostomy pouches
Adhesive removers
Skin barrier wipes
Stoma powders, pastes and barrier rings
Ostomy belts

PEI Pharmacare - Phenylketonuria Supplement Program

Provides eligible applicants with financial assistance to pay for approved nutritional supplements that have been recommended by a dietitian to treat phenylketonuria (PKU). Includes:

Full cost coverage for eligible special low-protein formulas
Annual coverage up to $3600 for specialty food items carried through the National Food Distribution Centre

PEI Pharmacare - Seniors' Drug Program

Provides eligible seniors with partial cost coverage for approved medications.

Note: Participants pay $8.25 plus $7.69 of the pharmacy professional fee for each prescription out of pocket and remaining costs are covered by the program.

PEI Pharmacare - Sexually Transmitted Disease Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with full cost coverage of approved drugs for the treatment of sexually transmitted infection (STI).

PEI Pharmacare - Transplant Anti-Rejection Drug Program

Provides eligible applicants with full cost coverage for approved transplant anti-rejection drugs.
