Women, Pregnancy and Postnatal

Provides peer support by connecting a participant with a volunteer peer, offering non-judgmental emotional and social support. This service is available regardless of the type of abortion or when it occurred.

Provides non-medical support to anyone needing an abortion. Includes:

• Navigating the medical system
• Connecting with a doula who can accompany them to appointments
• Transportation to and/or from the appointment
• Finding a place to stay overnight if travel to Halifax or Moncton is required
• After-care support, including a comfort package with a homemade rice heating pad, snacks (granola bars, fruit, tea), and a gift card to a local pharmacy
• Connecting with additional services

Provides health care services such as:

• General physician services
• Home and community care supports
• Substance abuse counselling
• Access to fitness and maternal health professionals
• Child and family wellness programming
• Health and nutrition programs, including services aimed at those with diabetes
• Individual and group wellness programs to help with day to day life skills and help with referrals to other programs that can help
• Gender-Affirming Care referrals
• Drop-in Health Clinic

Provides online information and resources about pathways to parenthood for individuals living with HIV. Includes:

• Reproductive rights for individuals living with HIV
• Introduction to choices
• Printable materials and more

Provides a variety of primary health care services to women and children, including newborns, youth and families. Includes:

• Blood collection
• Breast health
• Gynecology
• Labour and delivery
• X-Ray, ultrasound, and imaging
• Mental health support and more

Provides surgical abortion services are available for individuals who are over 14 weeks pregnant or when a physician is unavailable. Health PEI has arrangements with the Moncton Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax to provide this service.

Provides regular pap tests for women to help reduce the risk of cervical cancer.
