Lennox Island First Nation

Provides health care services such as:

• General physician services
• Home and community care supports
• Substance abuse counselling
• Access to fitness and maternal health professionals
• Child and family wellness programming
• Health and nutrition programs, including services aimed at those with diabetes
• Individual and group wellness programs to help with day to day life skills and help with referrals to other programs that can help
• Gender-Affirming Care referrals
• Drop-in Health Clinic

• Building relationships of trust and provides guidance through the Health care system
• Coordinating care and assists with care transitions by serving as liaison between Mi'kmaq individuals, their treatment team, and the Health care system
• Educating about disease, treatment options, and follow-up care requirements
• Facilitating communication and cultural understanding with Mi'kmaq individuals and health care providers
• Advocating for improvements in PEI Health care system based on identified gaps facing Mi'kmaq individuals
• Supporting Mi'kmaq individuals by liaising with the Non-Insured Health Benefits program which provides eligible First Nations and Inuit clients with coverage for a range of health benefits that are not covered through other social programs, private insurance plans or provincial or territorial health insurance

Provides a weekly gathering for all community members living on reserve.

Helps community members living on-reserve apply for social assistance, employment insurance, and PEI home heating rebates. Income assistance clients can also get help filing their income tax returns.

Supports community members with education, skill-building, and other assistance to help them join the workforce. These services include, but are not limited to:

• Planning for employment
• Budgeting
• Job search
• Communication
• Determining readiness for employment
• Assistance with accessing required education/training
• Assistance with resume writing
• Assistance with transportation for work or courses
• Assistance with needed work clothing (Example: work boots)
