Service Description

Provides regular breast cancer screening (mammograms) to help increase the chances of detecting cancer early.
Products specifications
Eligibility:Women ages 40-74 years who:
-Have breast tissue
-Are residents of PEI and have a valid PEI Health Card
-Do not have a personal history of breast cancer
-Do not have breast symptoms such as a breast lump, puckered skin, rash, or nipple discharge
-Do not have breast implants
-Have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months
Screening is recommended:
- Every 2 years for ages 50-74
-Every year for ages 40-49
Note: Guidelines for frequency of screening, based on age and/or medical history, can be found on website.
Fees:No fees
How to Access:Self-refer by calling toll free number * Physician referrals are required for women who have a history of breast cancer in their family who wish to be screened prior to age 40
