Help with the cost of medical care for prescriptions, equipment or assistive devices, rebates to help make homes more accessible, how to apply for publicly funded health care, and more. Also includes short term medical equipment loans and free access to health related items or services like pregnancy tests, hearing and eye exams, or safer sex supplies. Provides low cost accommodations to families with a child age 18 or younger who has an appointment, treatment, surgery, or other medical reason to visit the IWK or another medical facility in Halifax. Services offered during stays include:
  • Private bedrooms
  • Shared bathrooms
  • Linens, towels and complimentary laundry facilities
  • Full kitchen and dining area (guests must supply their own food and clean up after themselves)
  • Home for Dinner program that offers families a home cooked meal three times a week

Collects, refurbishes and distributes gently used CPAP and BiPAP machines to eligible patients who suffer from sleep apnea but are unable to afford the machines.

Donations of CPAP and BiPAP machines accepted and the cost to mail will be covered.

Provides low-income individuals living with cancer an annual travel allowance to help cover the costs of travelling to cancer related appointments. One travel allowance is granted per year per person.

Note: Recipients of the Social Assistance Program or Accessibility Supports (Disability Support Program) in Epekwitk / PEI are not eligible for the Travel Treatment Fund.

Provides financial support for individuals who have experienced a serious and permanent injury as a result of receiving a Health Canada authorized vaccine, administered in Canada on or after December 8, 2020.

Claims can be filed within three years after the date of vaccination, date of death, or date when an injury first becomes apparent. Serves Canada, with the exception of Quebec. (For vaccination administered in Quebec, visit website)

This program is administered and delivered by OXARO Inc. and funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
