Helps ensure public safety and security of residents, their property and the environment during an emergency such as a hurricane, flood or major winter storm. Includes:

• Providing emergency preparedness information
• Offering direction to the public in the event of an emergency
• Coordinating efforts for emergency response and recovery

Provides updates via public service announcements before, during and after an emergency using news media and social media.

Assists families experiencing separation and divorce with developing a comprehensive parenting plan to give co-parents a roadmap for what parenting is going to look like between the two homes.

The mediator is a neutral third party to who can help parents focus on the best interests of their children to create a parenting plan that helps transition children between homes easily and without conflict.

Provides information on the Federal Child Support Guidelines and assistance to individuals who do not have lawyers to complete the required court documents to apply for child support for the first time or to change an existing child support order. Assisted areas include:

• Applying for child support orders
• Changing an existing child support order or agreement
• Creating special expense agreements that can be enforced by the PEI Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP)
• Applying for Inter-jurisdictional Support Orders
• Annual recalculation of child support if you have a child support order or agreement that provides for yearly recalculation

Note: The Child Support Services Office does not assist with legal advice, spousal support, division of property or appeals.

Provides assistance with navigating programs, supports and services for individuals who seek help in family law. Includes:

• Information about family law programs and services
• Referrals to appropriate services within and outside the Family Law Centre
• Collaboration with other services to provide wrap-around support for families
• Continued support as a family's situation changes

Navigators are available to meet one-on-one in person, online or via phone.

Administers and enforces child and spousal support obligations under the terms of a court order or separation agreement. Once an order or separation agreement is registered with the program, support payments will be sent to the program rather than directly to the person receiving the payments. The program will then forward the payments to the recipient.

Note: Permission from ex-partner is not required to register.

Program teaches parents experiencing high-conflict divorce or separation skills and strategies to manage the situation. Program is offered in-person and online.

Serves as an independent representative of the child/children involved in high-conflict custody cases. The aim is to protect and advocate for the best interests of the child/children and assists with family law issues of parenting time and decision-making responsibility regarding the child.

Helps to file a complaint against eligible types of consumer transactions in PEI. Includes:

• Investments
• Insurance
• Real estate trading
• Trust and loan companies
• Payday lending
• Credit reporting and disclosure
• Direct selling (includes door-to-door salespeople)
• Debt collection
• Cemeteries and funeral services
• Charitable lotteries
