Description:
Serves as an independent representative of the child/children involved in high-conflict custody cases. The aim is to protect and advocate for the best interests of the child/children and assists with family law issues of parenting time and decision-making responsibility regarding the child.
Eligibility:
Children and youth who are involved in complex and high-conflict parenting disputes or those concerned for the children involved (teachers, family members, etc.)
Fees:
No fees
How to Access:
Referral from judge if already in the Court system for custody matters * Parents/guardians, concerned family members, teachers, etc. can contact the Office of the Children's Lawyer directly * A child may self-refer * The Children's Lawyer may decide to inquire on their own initiative
