People in urgent need of overnight shelter can call the toll-free referral hotline. The intake line will work with callers to find a solution for shelter that best suits their needs and connect callers with resources for longer-term solutions. This number is also used to make reservations for Bedford MacDonald House and Park Street Emergency Shelter.

Transportation may be able to be arranged in some situations.

An overnight emergency shelter located in Summerside serves women, trans, and non-binary individuals, as well as children who are temporarily unhoused due to various circumstances. Shelter stays are managed on a case-by-case basis and can last up to eight weeks without requiring individuals to leave.

For those needing longer-term support, the LifeHouse Transitional Housing Program is available. To apply, shelter users must stay for a minimum of four weeks before submitting an application. The Housing Committee will then review the case and make a decision. If accepted, individuals may stay in the transitional housing program for up to one year.

Airbnb hosts offer their rental space for free to people going through a difficult time. This includes:
  • Medical stays: For those receiving care or supporting a patient or healing with family during a difficult time
  • Refugee housing: Temporary accommodation before settling into permanent housing (for refugees and asylum seekers)
  • Disaster relief: For people who have had to flee their homes, as well as relief workers deployed to help in a disaster

Provides an overnight shelter for adults experiencing homelessness.The gender inclusive 50-bed shelter offers units that have one or two dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathroom and showers. Services include:

  • Showers
  • Accessible units for individuals with physical mobility challenges
  • Laundry facilities
  • Overnight storage for personal belongings including bicycles
  • Breakfast and light meal options such as sandwiches
  • Transportation by a free shuttle bus to downtown is available each morning
  • Referrals to community partner organizations for support services
  • Pets can be accommodated if there are no other options for pet care
  • Beds can be booked for up to 30 days at a time
  • Transportation to and from the shelter from outside Charlottetown can be arranged, if required through the Shelter Support Line at 1-833-220-4722
