Provides an evidence-based counselling model to help individuals attain safety from trauma and/or co-occurring substance abuse. Self-study is part of the program and the material is presented in an individual learning format.

  • Inpatient detox for people who require medical supervision (offered at Provincial Addictions Treatment Facility)

Provides an evidence-based program to teach families, parents and concerned significant others to support getting their loved ones into treatment for addictions. Offered in both group and individual sessions.

Biweekly group support and education for seniors who are impacted by a family member's addiction.

Offers a 16-week program providing a range of supports for youth ages 15-24 years who need more intensive assistance with substance misuse and mental health issues. Includes:

  • Counselling/therapy
  • One-on-one and group treatment
  • Family and parental support
  • Life skills development
  • Educational curriculum
  • Recreational activities
  • Substance use, addiction and problem gambling support

Participants will build skills in the following areas:

  • Relapse prevention
  • Self esteem
  • Making healthy choices
  • Developing trust in others and yourself
  • Goal setting
  • Healthy relationships
  • Managing cravings
  • Coping with anger, depression and other emotions

After completing the program, aftercare is provided for up to 24 weeks as needed.

Responds to reports of possible abuse, neglect or self-neglect and protects and assists vulnerable adults who:
  • May be in immediate and significant danger, and do not understand the danger they are in
  • Do not have the physical ability to get out of a dangerous situation
  • Are unable to protect themselves because of physical or cognitive limitations
Adult Protection may notify the public trustee if there is considerable risk of immediate, serious harm to an individual's estate. The public trustee is appointed if a person is no longer able to look after their financial affairs and has no trusted family or friends to assist.

  • How to share your health and personal care preferences with health care teams and your family if you become incapable of expressing your own decisions, for example, health care treatment and who can make decisions for you
