Domestic Animals

Responds to concerns from the public about feral cats in their area. Includes:

• Live and humane capture of feral felines
• Veterinary examination to be tested for vaccinated and treated for parasites
• Spay/neuter procedure
• Cats are then released back into their home community through partner organizations

Provides primary and emergency veterinary services for large and small animals. Includes:

• Pets, exotic animals, and pocket pets
• On-farm and off-farm care for horses, cattle, fish, sheep, goats, pigs, and other farm animals
• On-farm and racetrack care for horses

This is a veterinary teaching hospital.

Provides temporary safe emergency housing for pets during times of transition and crisis, includes food, daily walks and socialization.

This program is available when space is available at the PEI Humane Society. The shelter reserves the right to deny applicants to this program if shelter capacity is limited.

Provides an opportunity for older adults to adapt/foster older dogs who have lost a human companion due to a residence change, or who are left without a caregiver due to illness or death.

Offers a variety of online information for domestic pet adopters or owners. Includes:

• List of pet-friendly stores
• List of vet clinics
• General information about pet care
• Information about the Animal Welfare Act, PEI Dog Owner's Act, and bylaw enforcement
• Finding a responsible breeder/Choosing a responsible rescue
