Programs that teach parenting skills and support the well-being of parents, including services that provide personal advocacy or system navigation help for parents of children with specific needs.

Lending library that covers a large selection of topics relevant to families living with young children or the people who work with them. Resources include books, booklets and pamphlets.

A supportive, non-judgmental space for families with trans or gender diverse children to meet and have discussions with other parents, staff and volunteers of PEERS Alliance. Parents/caregivers will unlearn myths about gender identity and replace those myths with knowledge and support around issues of gender diversity.

The program is based on the two most important parts of a plant: the roots (parents and caregivers) are responsible for nurturing the shoots (children and dependents) to be the best version of themselves they can be.
  • For parents and caregivers: Can join Roots and Shoots group
  • For trans and gender diverse youth ages 12-18 years: Can join a supportive space called Saplings at Charlottetown. For youth in Summerside can join Rainbow Youth Club which occurs at the same time as Roots and Shoots.
  • For gender creative children ages 13 years and younger: Can join shoots portion of the evening that is offered partnership with Wild Child PEI. It includes fun, outdoor programming with staff, volunteers, and kids who are just like them.

Provides parenting workshops for new immigrants as a part of counselling services. Participants have an opportunity to meet other parents, share experiences, and receive support. Covered topics include:

  • Active parenting skills
  • Building family relationships
  • Overcoming challenges related to parenting in a new culture
  • Building self-esteem and more

Provides support to Indigenous families who live off-reserve who are involved, or at-risk of becoming involved with Child and Family Services. Also provides support to non-Indigenous foster families and support to Indigenous youth ageing out of the Child Welfare System.

General Support for Families:

  • Works with families to to educate, support, and strengthen their family unit
  • Individual and family supports and cultural programs including Triple P Parenting Classes, community kitchen, home visits, family workshops, and cultural activities

Non-Indigenous Foster Families and Caregivers:

  • Provides cultural competency training, supports, and activities that foster Indigenous culture and community with the child in care

Indigenous Youth Ageing Out of the Child Welfare System:

  • Individual support and referrals to other Native Council programs that support development toward an independent and healthy lifestyle

Support group where teen parents can get together in a comfortable and confidential environment and ask questions of each other and share experiences. Lunch is provided.
