Phone line provides support for anyone who requires emotional assistance related to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Mental health counselling, emotional support, community based cultural support services, and some assistance with transportation costs is available to those affected by missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Transportation assistance is provided when local professional counselling and cultural support services are unavailable, including costs to see Elders and traditional healers away from home.

Provides support and health care navigation services to Mi'kmaq individuals and families. Includes:

  • Building relationships of trust and provides guidance through the Health care system
  • Coordinating care and assists with care transitions by serving as liaison between Mi'kmaq individuals, their treatment team, and the Health care system
  • Educating about disease, treatment options, and follow-up care requirements
  • Facilitating communication and cultural understanding with Mi'kmaq individuals and health care providers
  • Advocating for improvements in PEI Health care system based on identified gaps facing Mi'kmaq individuals
  • Supporting Mi'kmaq individuals by liaising with the Non-Insured Health Benefits program which provides eligible First Nations and Inuit clients with coverage for a range of health benefits that are not covered through other social programs, private insurance plans or provincial or territorial health insurance

  • Mobility aids
  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Services from Elders
  • Assessments and screenings
  • Medical supplies and equipment
  • Mental health services
  • Therapeutic services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy
Social:
  • Land-based activities
  • Respite care (individual or group)
  • Specialized programs based on cultural beliefs and practices
Education:
  • Specialized school transportation
  • Tutoring services
  • Teaching assistants
  • Psycho-educational assessments
  • Assistive technology and electronics
  • School supplies

Provides mental health and emotional support to eligible individuals and their families.

Services include:
  • Cultural support (access to Elders, Knowledge Holders, traditional healers, and ceremonies)
  • Emotional support
  • Professional counselling
  • Transportation (Assistance with transportation may be offered when professional counselling and cultural support services are not locally available)

Provides immediate and culturally appropriate counselling supports to former Indian Residential School students who are experiencing pain or distress as a result of their Residential School experience.

Also provides emotional and crisis referral services.

Offers immediate help to all Indigenous peoples across Kanata / Canada through telephone and online chat counselling and crisis intervention. Experienced and culturally competent counsellors can help if you:

  • Want to talk
  • Are distressed
  • Have strong emotional reactions
  • May be triggered by painful memories

Counsellors can also help find other wellness supports that are accessible near you.

The helpline is operated by Donna Cona, an Indigenous organization.
