Services that help develop employability skills, gain education, take part in on-the-job training, prepare for job searches, career counselling, and assistance with resume writing or job interview preparation.

Supports Indigenous people living in Epekwitk / PEI in both urban and rural areas to prepare for training and employment or a return to work. The program is client-centered and based on each individual participant's career/job plan. Specific employment services can vary, but generally include:

  • Relevant hands-on career exploration experiences
  • Job opportunities
  • Education and training related to career goals
  • Pre-employment training

The program is delivered in partnership with employers, training institutions, and government departments to develop and roll out initiative that support hands-on career explorations experiences, job opportunities, education, and training.

Provides career guidance, educational supports, and employment opportunities. Includes:

  • Career guidance: Help with job searches and writing cover letters and resumes. Also offers coaching through interview tips and techniques.
  • Education support: Provides education funding for 1-2 year programs through Holland College or other recognized colleges, or for the final year of a university program. Also provides funding for training that is suitable for industry and trade careers such as First Aid, WHMIS, Flagger Certification, Fall Safety, Marine Safety, etc.

Supports community members with education, skill-building, and other assistance to help them join the workforce. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning for employment
  • Budgeting
  • Job search
  • Communication
  • Determining readiness for employment
  • Assistance with accessing required education/training
  • Assistance with resume writing
  • Assistance with transportation for work or courses
  • Assistance with needed work clothing (Example: work boots)

24 week employment and skills training program. The first 12 weeks are in class and the second 12 weeks are on-the-job training. Program includes:

  • Exploring personal strengths
  • Developing life-skills
  • Teamwork
  • Effective communication
  • Budgeting
  • Personal learning styles that can be applied to everyday life
  • Effective resume writing, job searching, and interviewing skills
  • Presentations from people in various careers
  • Opportunities to become a full-time employee or to gain a better understanding of what education is required to obtain full-time employment
