Offers families of pediatric and maternity patients at the IWK and Moncton hospitals with access to:
  • Fully equipped kitchen
  • Shower facilities (towels, soaps and shampoos provided)
  • Computer with internet access
  • Homemade meals several times a week through the Home for Dinner program, plus bread and baked goods
  • Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate

Provides low cost accommodations to families with a child age 18 or younger who has an appointment, treatment, surgery, or other medical reason to visit the IWK or another medical facility in Halifax. Services offered during stays include:

  • Shared bathrooms
  • Linens, towels and complimentary laundry facilities
  • Full kitchen and dining area (guests must supply their own food and clean up after themselves)
  • Home for Dinner program that offers families a home cooked meal three times a week
  • Complimentary bread, milk, juice, coffee
  • Common living room, television access, public computer with internet access, and free wi-fi
  • Arts and crafts area, playroom and outdoor playground for children

Provides free service dogs to young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The dogs help reduce stress and anxiety, help with socialization and language skills, and improve sleep.

A seven day training course is required to be completed, beginning with an evaluation of the youth's needs and interest in the dog. All training is done in Quebec. Accommodations and meals are provided. Parental involvement at the training is required 24 hours a day.
