Employment programs for people with disabilities. Includes life skills, return to work, job search assistance, vocational training, and more.

Provides day programs for individuals with intellectual and/or dual disabilities to build functional and vocational skills and prepare for employment. Opportunities include:

  • Vocational training/day supports
  • Training and working in the Kingswood Centre bakery/catering business
  • Training and working in the Kingswood Centre woodshop
  • Taking part in functional skills development opportunities such as community placements, seasonal projects, recycling, wellness programs, and life enrichment activities (pending availability)

Provides individuals with disabilities an opportunity to learn more about careers of interest through a short-term mentorship with an employer. The program is coordinated by the Canadian Association for Supported Employment in collaboration with partner organizations as a hub in each province.

Individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism who are looking for work can apply to find jobs with partner employers.

The program also links employers with employment agencies and supports and works to increase employment of persons with an intellectual disability/autism spectrum disorder (ID/ASD).

Vocational day program services are available in Tignish and O'Leary. Participants have the opportunity to take part in a number of employment opportunities and connect with the community. Includes:
  • Offsite employment activities and lunch programs
  • Volunteer work
  • Life skills training
  • Bakery and cafe work (O'Leary only)
  • Recreational and social opportunities
