PEERS Alliance

AKA: PEERS; Prevent Educate Empower Respect Support; Formerly AIDS PEI

Supports individuals affected by or at risk for HIV, Hep C, and other STIs through inclusive programs and services. Works to reduce stigma, promote sexual health for all genders and orientations, and support harm reduction for individuals who use drugs. Support is available to anyone in need.

Provides harm reduction resources and support to individuals who use drugs in rural and small-town communities across Epekwitk / PEI through scheduled stops at designated locations. Stop requests can be made via phone, text, or email.

Peer-to-peer safer use education for individuals who use street sourced substances. Education offered through:
  • Take-home education resources
  • Online learning modules
  • Community learning groups
  • One-on-one knowledge exchange sessions

Staff provide information and support clients living with sexually transmitted infections in identifying and accessing available services and programs in PEI to help meet their needs. Includes:
  • Service navigation
  • Support for those living with HIV and/or Hep C
  • Help and support to get tested for HIV, Hep C and all other sexually transmitted infections
  • Support to those who are newly diagnosed including information about treatment options

Provides take-home naloxone kits. Recipients are asked to complete a short tutorial but no personal information is required to receive the kit.

Naloxone training is also available.

Provides a weekly in-person action role playing games program for youth to explore the outdoors while create and navigate a story together. The program is delivered in partnership with Wild Child and provided in a safe queer and trans inclusive environment.

Note: Program is held outdoors and come prepared with appropriate clothing for the weather.
