Handle with Care

An 8-week program that offers activities, games, and discussions that help parents/guardians and caregivers understand and promote the mental health of young children.

Covers the four building blocks for young children's mental health:

Building trust and attachment
Promoting and enhancing self-esteem
Expressing emotions
Relationships with others

Held at locations across PEI.

Healthy Babies Club

Designed to offer parents of infants and soon-to-be parents, the opportunity to interact with other parents while at the same time developing emotional ties with their baby. Sessions include socialization, talks from professionals about baby development stages, and a light dinner.

Home Visits

Provides home visits for parents of young children who need support.

Immigration Youth - Family Orientation and School Enrollment Services

Staff help new immigrant families with school-aged children to figure out children's needs and requirements for school-related matters. Includes:

Needs assessment
Setting up language assessments
Supporting parents with the school enrollment process
Arranging interpreter services for parents and children when needed
Helping parents register children for kindergarten
Information sessions about the Public School System (policies, discipline, books, food, weather delays/closures, buses)

Infant Massage

Provides a weekly five session infant massage class that is facilitated by a certified ECE and IAIM infant massage instructor.

Legal and Court Services Division - Positive Parenting from Two Homes

Provides online and in-person information sessions to parents who are separating, divorcing or parenting from more than one home.

Topics covered include but are not limited to:

Positive parenting
Managing and reducing conflict
Parents' experience of separation
Children's' experience of separation
What Children Need
Parenting Plans
How to Develop a Business-like Relationship with the Other Parent
Legal Information

Program coordinators screenparticipants for the program and ensure that co-parents are not in the samegroup.

Legal and Court Services Division - Supervised Parenting Time and Exchange Program

Provides a safe, neutral way for separated or divorced parents to have supervised parenting time or supervised pick-ups/drop-offs. Services include:

Supervised parenting time so a child can spend time with their parent in a safe environment
Supervised drop-offs and pick-ups to reduce risks of conflict when children move from one household to another

Parent Support

Provides an opportunity for parents to meet, share experiences and learn parenting skills. Offers parenting programs and information on various topics of interest to parents. Guest speakers are sometimes brought in.

Parent Workshops

Provides educational workshops such as:

Esteem
Relaxation program
First Aid and Basic CPR for babies and children
Home security
Parenting programs

Parent/Caregiver Information Sessions

Provides parent/caregiver information sessions on a variety of topics. Includes:

Nutrition
Everyday parenting challenges and positive discipline
Promoting emotional wellbeing in children
Communication skills

Childcare and supper are provided onsite during sessions.
