Provides residential and employment services, skills development, vocational training, and community support to people with intellectual and/or dual disabilities.

Helps build a customized program to meet the specific needs of an individual who has an intellectual disability and/or dual disabilities. Staff are matched to the applicant.

Some examples of services that might be offered to individuals with an intellectual disability and their families include:

  • Respite if needed by the senior parent or caregiver
  • Support if needed in-home to help the client learn home safety skills, life skills, etc.
  • Person needs to work on building independence from their family

Assists individuals with an intellectual disability and/or dual disabilities in preparing for and conducting a job search, including:

  • Assessing needs
  • Helping plan for return to work
  • Employment counselling, services and support
  • Transitional support
  • Assistance contacting employers
  • Job training and supervision - both pre-employment and onsite
  • Providing outreach services
  • Resume writing and job search techniques
  • Group sessions on various topics including life skills

Provides day programs for individuals with intellectual and/or dual disabilities to build functional and vocational skills and prepare for employment. Opportunities include:

  • Vocational training/day supports
  • Training and working in the Kingswood Centre bakery/catering business
  • Training and working in the Kingswood Centre woodshop
  • Taking part in functional skills development opportunities such as community placements, seasonal projects, recycling, wellness programs, and life enrichment activities (pending availability)

Provides three types of housing for individuals with intellectual disabilities:

  • Group Living: Located in the Montague area. Residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible but have the support of staff when required. Some are small options homes with 2-3 residents. Some facilities are staffed 24 hours a day, have day programming, and offer help with food and laundry.
  • Associate Family Program: People with intellectual disabilities can apply to live in a home with a local family who provides a nurturing, safe and supportive environment (pending availability).
  • Independent Living Centre: Provides support for 8 independent persons as well as a Small Options Unit ( a three-bedroom)
