Provides support and health care navigation services to Mi'kmaq individuals and families. Includes:

  • Building relationships of trust and provides guidance through the Health care system
  • Coordinating care and assists with care transitions by serving as liaison between Mi'kmaq individuals, their treatment team, and the Health care system
  • Educating about disease, treatment options, and follow-up care requirements
  • Facilitating communication and cultural understanding with Mi'kmaq individuals and health care providers
  • Advocating for improvements in PEI Health care system based on identified gaps facing Mi'kmaq individuals

Mental health counselling, emotional support, community based cultural support services, and some assistance with transportation costs is available to those affected by missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Transportation assistance is provided when local professional counselling and cultural support services are unavailable, including costs to see Elders and traditional healers away from home.
