Description:
Parents who give birth in PEI are required by law to register the birth with Vital Statistics. This process happens automatically for babies born in hospital but parents planning to give birth at home are responsible for registering their child. Or if information is incomplete at the time of hospital discharge, parents must complete the birth registration.

How to Access:
Parents planning a home birth should contact Vital Statistics ahead of time to request forms which must be completed and submitted within 30 days of the child being born * Parents are also required to book an appointment with Vital Statistics to finalize the registration within 30 days of birth * Contact Vital Statistics if birth registration was incomplete at time of hospital discharge
