Community Fridges and Pantries in PEI

A fridge and/or pantry filled with free food and personal hygiene products.

Items vary by location and the availability depends on donations but may include:

Fresh produce
Cooked meats
Dry and canned goods
Cheese
Bread
Cooked meals
Non-alcoholic drinks
Personal hygiene products
Diapers, baby wipes, baby formula
Laundry detergent

Community Tuesdays

Every Tuesday, free tea/coffee time with a fresh biscuit and free community dinner are provided.

Summerside Emergency Shelter

Provides an overnight shelter for adults experiencing homelessness.

The gender inclusive 10-bed shelter is provided in the units that have one or two dorm-style bedrooms with options for individuals with physical mobility challenges, couples and individuals in need of shelter who have pets. Services include:

Showers
Laundry facilities
Safe storage of belongings
Breakfast and supper food options
Case management and referrals to community partner organizations for support services

Individuals who are experiencing housing insecurity, or at risk of homelessness, but who are not staying at the Shelter can access showers each Tuesday and Thursday between 5pm-6pm

Note: When wind chill temperatures reach -20°C or lower for two consecutive hours, the shelter opens at 4pm instead of 8pm.
