Helps residents who want to stop smoking or using other tobacco products by covering 100% of the cost of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products and specific smoking cessation prescription drugs. There are two options for treatment, available once a year for 6-18 weeks of treatment:
  • Option 1: Non-Prescription Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) products such as patches, gum, lozenges, or inhaler
  • Option 2: Approved prescription medication (Zyban or Champix)

Provides two gambling-related support programs at the PlayWise Hubs.

PlayWise Program: The PlayWise Hubs at Red Shores Charlottetown and Summerside offer guests access to gambling-related information, educational tools, community resource links, and the opportunity to speak with a PlayWise Advisor. PlayWise Advisors are onsite to provide information, education, and support to players, employees, and guests.

Break in Play Program: Allows anyone to take a break from the gaming floor at the Red Shores Racetrack and Casino locations in Charlottetown and Summerside. Players who enroll in the program can choose a short-term break (30, 60, or 90 days) or a long-term break (six, 12, 24, or 36 months).

Provides harm reduction services to help prevent the transmission of Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which can be spread by sharing equipment used to inject drugs. Services include:
  • Needle exchange with safe needle disposal
  • Immunization counseling and immunization
  • Vein/wound care
  • Sexual health counseling
  • Health teaching to support optimal health
  • Referrals to other care providers
  • Naloxone kits for people who are at risk of opioid overdose
  • Detox information

Provides harm reduction resources and support to individuals who use drugs in rural and small-town communities across Epekwitk / PEI through scheduled stops at designated locations. Stop requests can be made via phone, text, or email.

  • Take-home education resources
  • Online learning modules
  • Community learning groups
  • One-on-one knowledge exchange sessions

Provides a free confidential phone and texting service offering support and information to people who want to quit smoking. Also includes a website where people can access information and tools to help them quit.

Provides an evening drop-in place for young adults to socialize without the pull of drugs or alcohol to help them gain and sustain sobriety. Provided activities include:

  • Table tennis and pool
  • Video games and watching TV
  • Games, cards, puzzles
  • Use of musical instruments, computers, and internet
  • Arts and crafts
  • Special events
