Children and youth who are born outside Canada or who speak a language other than English or French at home are eligible for English as an Additional Language (EAL) and French as an Additional Language (FAL) services. All children who meet this criteria must register with the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning's EAL/FAL Reception Centre before contacting a school to register.

Eligibility:
Children entering kindergarten must: Speak French at home/be proficient in speaking French * Be age 5 years by December 31 of the year they enter kindergarten
Children/youth changing schools: Speak French at home/be proficient in speaking French

Contact your local school directly to register * Individual school contact information is available on the website * Staff at the French Language School Board are also available to answer general questions about the registration process
