| Description: | Provides financial assistance to support qualifying individuals who are escaping abusive situations by helping to cover monthly housing expenses, such as rent, mortgage payments, or property tax, up to $7,200 annually. The benefit can also provide a one-time non-repayable damage deposit of up to $2000. Gender-based violence: based on gender norms and unequal power dynamics against someone because of their sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or perceived gender including women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+. Violence takes many forms including physical, sexual, financial, as well as emotional (psychological) abuse. This is a shared program through the Governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island as part of the National Housing Strategy.

| Eligibility: | Eligibility will be assessed by the following criteria: -Individuals who left or are planning to leave their home due to a situation that puts them at risk -Renters spend 30% or more and home owners spent 50% or more of household income for suitable housing -Individuals who do not currently rent from PEI Housing Corporation or other subsidized housing -Number of dependents, family health, and availability of suitable housing will be considered -Income must be below the following annual gross income levels to apply: -Bachelor $26,500 -One Bedroom $39,500 -Two Bedroom $43,000 -Three or Four Bedroom $45,000 |
