Coordinates the process of legal adoption proceedings in PEI as outlined in the Adoption Act. This process creates a legal parent-child relationship between the adopted child and adoptive parent(s). Includes:

Assisting children in the permanent care of the Director of Child Protection in finding an adoptive family
Assessing applications from propsective parents and helping them throughout the process of adopting a child
Adoption Services may also be involved in coordinating the process for private adoption, relative adoption and inter-country adoption

Eligibility:	People age 21 years or older can apply to adopt a child * Further eligibility requirements are assessed by Adoption Services using the Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) Assessment
Fees:	No fees
How to Access:	Call, email or schedule an appointment to receive basic information about the adoption program in PEI * An application and questionnaire will be mailed to interested applicants
